Job Overview

Managing the extrusion department in a manufacturing facility, co-ordinate and assigns work to the relevant personnel in the extrusion team. Ensuring quality production, enforce policies and procedures and recommend continuous improvements ideas. Forward thinking and technically well equipped with knowledge of the extrusion process and the equipment used in such processes but must also be able to effectively lead a team of people to a place of better cohesion and discipline.

Minimum requirements

  • A Suitable Qualification on NQF 6 level
  • 5 years management experience
  • Minimum of 10 year extrusion experience
  • Film Extrusion strongly preferred
  • Excellent management skills and experience
  • Advanced comprehension of the extrusion process and the operations of the extrusion equipment
  • Excellent technical aptitude
  • Strong problem solving skills in aiding the efficiency of the operations

Responsibilities

  • Management is timeously informed of activities and of any significant problems
  • Maintain efficient operation schedules monitoring downtime and machine utilization to achieve quality levels and production targets
  • Continually looking at improving plant and processes and making recommendations to strive for more efficiently use time and machinery without sacrificing quality
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvements
  • Develop and design efficient processes and procedures and recommendations for process improvements and day to day problem solving in these areas
  • Take responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with other departments, management and staff
  • Provides work instructions and training to lower level positions
  • Performance measurements of resources
  • Assist in process evaluation to help optimize unit productivity
  • Ensuring that tasks are performed in accordance with establish standards, policies, and procedures
